What’s in a food parcel?

Our food bank provides three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.

The Trussell Trust has worked with nutritionists to ensure our emergency food parcels contain a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced food.

A typical food parcel includes:

  • Breakfast cereals
  • Soup
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tinned beans
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tea or coffee
  • Sugar
  • Biscuits
  • Snacks

Dietary requirements

Our food bank can usually adapt your food parcel to meet your dietary needs, for example, gluten free, halal or vegetarian. When you speak with one of our volunteers on the phone, or arrive at one of our food bank centres, a volunteer will chat to you about any special dietary requirements you may have.

Not just food

We also (usually) have toiletries, household cleaning items, sanitary items, nappies and other things. Just ask, and we will see what donations we have and do our best to help you.
