Keynsham Foodbank Trustee recruitment UPDATED
Helping local people in food crisis.
We are recruiting a number of voluntary positions to join our Board of Trustees.
We’re a well established local charity, entirely run by volunteers, who work together to collect donated food and distribute it to people in our community in urgent need of emergency food.
What do we do? Volunteers drive the charity’s van to collect food, donated by local people, from local supermarkets. At the food bank’s warehouse, we check and sort food and household cleaning products, and re-stock 3 disruption centres. Small teams at the distribution centres meet clients – referred by BANES, schools, medical practitioners, churches, and other local charities – and provide suitable quantities and types of food to best meet the needs of clients. Our volunteers signpost other supporting services, and provide a friendly listening ear.
Whether you’re an experienced Trustee, or wanting to take your first step at Board level, we want to hear from you.
Ideally, our new Trustees will have skills or abilities in one of the following areas,
H&S Safeguarding Fundraising & Company Volunteer Logistics
Grants Secretary Management
Essential skills & experience: independent thinking, and a collaborative approach.
As a Trustee you will,
• Have an induction, training & reimbursement of expenses
• Have ongoing opportunities to develop new skills
• Be part of the team making strategic decisions
• Improve access to food for local people, and make a difference in your community.
Time commitment: 4 scheduled trustee meetings per annum, about 2 hours each, currently by Zoom, plus actions arising.
About 10 – 30 hours per quarter.
